A low monthly price leaves two questions unanswered: what does the service cost over one or two years, and how much must you pay when ordering? This guide separates the base charges for a period of use from the actual invoice. That makes offers with a permanent discount and a free introductory period easier to compare.

The examples use German gross prices including 19% VAT. VPS and root server calculations include IPv4 plus IPv6. Regular plans were checked on October 13, 2026; coupon examples use price data from October 12, 2026. Location, minimum term and promotions can affect the price. Your country of residence can also change the applicable VAT.

Regular plans with 1, 12 or 24-month minimum terms

For regular VPS and root servers, Netcup offers one, twelve and 24-month minimum terms. Each option has its own monthly base price. A longer commitment can reduce the monthly price while increasing the initial obligation. The checked Nuremberg web hosting plans offer a twelve-month minimum term; monthly and 24-month variants are not offered there.

The tables show the options that are actually available. Minimum base charges cover the selected minimum term including setup. Each cell also shows the separate billing period: regular Webhosting 8000, for example, has six-month billing with a twelve-month minimum term.

The plan names link to Netcup. Select your preferred contract term, location and network configuration again on the product page. The link may initially show a different variant. Before ordering, match the selection and final price to your comparison.

Example: VPS 1000 G12.5 without a coupon code

The one-month minimum term costs €16.68 per month, with €16.68 in minimum base charges. A twelve-month commitment costs €14.50 per month and €174.00 over the minimum term. At 24 months, the monthly base price drops to €12.32; the base-charge commitment totals €295.68. All three options use the same IPv4-plus-IPv6 configuration.

The monthly option can suit a short trial. For a longer-running project, weigh the lower price of a longer commitment against your requirements. A one-month table cell covers only the initial minimum term; continuing to use the service adds more monthly charges.

How the cost model works

We assume an unchanged monthly base price, free months granted once at the start of the contract, and uninterrupted use. Additional products are initially excluded. A second year means twelve more months of use in this model, without a new coupon or another free introductory period.

Base-charge model = (months of use − free months) × monthly base price + setup

The web hosting prices in the following coupon examples already include the 30% discount. Do not deduct another 30% from them. The regular prices in the tables above do not include this coupon discount. Without a free introductory period, the model is twelve or 24 monthly base charges. The setup charge is added only once.

The model total is not a confirmed order or invoice amount. Netcup's server pages specify the free start and subsequent monthly prices, but do not fully explain how that interacts with annual advance billing. Check the checkout total, the period it covers and the next billing date before ordering.

Compare coupon plans over the same period of use

The table shows base charges for twelve and 24 months of use. It includes the specified free months once and accounts for setup. Domains outside the package, additional storage and licences are excluded. The linked coupon products may use a different location variant from the regular NUE web hosting plans above; check the specific product in each case.

Use these amounts to compare budgets for the same duration. The cheapest row is not necessarily the right service: web hosting includes a hosting environment maintained by the provider, while a VPS or root server requires your own administration. Our guide to web hosting, VPS and root servers explains the differences.

Three calculations you can reproduce

Webhosting 2000 with a permanent discount

At €2.82 per month with no free introductory month, the model gives 12 × €2.82 = €33.84 and 24 × €2.82 = €67.68. The checked plan has a twelve-month minimum contract term and a twelve-month billing period. There is no setup charge.

VPS 1000 G12.5 with one free month

The product page states that the first month is free, followed by €14.50 per month including IPv4 and IPv6. Eleven paid months within the first twelve months of use give 11 × €14.50 = €159.50. For 24 months of use, we calculate 23 × €14.50 = €333.50.

RS 1000 G12.5 with two free months

The first two months are free, followed by €21.73 per month including IPv4 and IPv6. This gives 10 × €21.73 = €217.30 and 22 × €21.73 = €478.06. Both server examples have twelve-month minimum terms and billing periods, with no setup charge.

Permanent discounts and free months work differently

A permanent percentage discount reduces each regular monthly base charge for that offer. A free month reduces the total once. At an unchanged price, one free month equals 8.33% of the base charges for twelve months, but only 4.17% for 24 months. Two free months equal 16.67% and 8.33%, respectively.

First compare suitable products and their features, then compare the same period. The 24-month column models continued use of the coupon plan; it does not describe a separate offer with a 24-month minimum term. That option would require its own price and coupon conditions. The model does not account for later price changes.

Check minimum term and billing period separately

The minimum term describes the initial contractual commitment. The billing period describes how many months of base charges an invoice combines. Netcup's terms generally require payment in advance for this period unless otherwise agreed. An advertised monthly price therefore does not mean a monthly payment.

A concrete example is Webhosting EiWoMiSau: its product page lists a six-month minimum term but a twelve-month billing period. A six-month commitment does not automatically mean an invoice for only six months. Your budget needs the initial payment, subsequent invoices and your intended cancellation date. Take these details from the order and contract information.

Include these items in your operating budget

  • Networking: The server examples include IPv4 and IPv6. On the checked product pages, IPv6-only costs €0.60 less per month. Choose it only if your required services remain accessible; compare the same networking configuration.
  • Domains: Webhosting 2000 includes three .de domains. Additional domains and other extensions can carry separate charges. Server rentals and domain registrations are separate products.
  • Backups and storage: Budget for external backups, retention and additional block storage where needed. A snapshot on the same server does not replace an independent backup. Netcup describes its web hosting backups as voluntary; restoration through support can incur a charge.
  • Licences and administration: An additional Plesk subscription, paid software or hired administration increases recurring costs. Include your own time spent on updates, monitoring and recovery.

For a complete budget, add extras for the same period and any one-off expenses to the base-charge model. Then decide using the features you need. Current offers are listed under web hosting, VPS and root servers.

Sources and calculation basis

The calculations are our own models based on official product information. They are not invoices from a test order. The configuration displayed when ordering and the contract documents are binding. The linked product sources use German prices and conditions.
